AI credits can be consumed when you use AI-powered features such as: - Pigment AI Agents - Analyst Agent - Modeler Agent - Custom Agent - Documentation Agent - Predictions (machine-learning forecasts / time series predictions) - Pigment MCP server - Formula Explainer, Insights - Other AI-assisted experiences that may be added over time AI credits are designed to: - Provide a **single, consistent way** to measure AI usage across features. - Give administrators **visibility** into overall consumption. - Enable **guardrails** to help keep usage within plan limits. ### Credit consumption triggers AI credits are consumed when Pigment runs AI computations on your behalf. Examples include: - Running an Agent workflow that calls an AI model. - Generating predictions (for example, forecasts) as part of your planning process. Some AI experiences may have special commercial terms (for example, limited-time free access or phased rollout). When in doubt, your **Plan & Usage** page is the source of truth for what is currently being counted for your workspace. For more information, see [Pigment License Types](/v1/docs/pigment-license-types#access-the-plan-usage-page). ### Credit calculation AI credits are derived from a combination of factors that reflect the work required to run AI features (for example, the amount of processing performed). Pigment may rely on multiple GenAI providers, models, and capabilities to power different Agent experiences, and modelling and analysis tasks can require more advanced models to achieve the expected results. The calculation is based on these principles: - **More complex or longer AI requests generally consume more credits** than smaller requests. - As we adopt state-of-the-art improvements and efficiency optimizations, the **credit valuation may evolve over time**. - Your usage is measured consistently so that what you see in product matches what is tracked for the period. ## Manage your credits ### Credits included by plan The number of AI credits included in your Workspace depends on your plan. Credits are granted annually and reset at your contract anniversary date. Unused credits do **not** roll over — they expire at the end of your contract period. ### Reset schedule AI credits are tracked over a billing period tied to your subscription and contract anniversary date. At the start of a new period, your usage counter resets for the new cycle. If you purchase an add-on credit pack during the year, those additional credits are added to your Workspace and **count toward the current billing period** (they do not create a separate reset date). ### Monitor your usage Credit consumption is tracked **near real-time**, so the figures you see in [**Plan & Usage**](/v1/docs/pigment-license-types#access-the-plan-usage-page) reflect your Workspace's actual usage with minimal delay. If you have Test & Deploy, consumption reflects the credits consumed from the current environment's allocation. Access to usage information is limited to **Workspace and Security Administrators**. Administrators can use this information to: - Monitor overall consumption over the current period. - Understand trends over time. - Anticipate when additional capacity may be needed. ### Reaching your credit limit Depending on your plan and configuration, Pigment may: - Notify you as you approach your limit. - Limit or pause certain AI features once the Workspace reaches the credit threshold. If you anticipate higher AI usage, contact your Pigment team to discuss options. ### Older or custom pricing contracts Some customers may be on an older AI pricing model (for example, separate limits for specific AI features) or on custom terms that do not use AI credits as the contractual unit. In that case, contact your Pigment team — they can confirm which AI pricing model applies to your Workspace and share your usage details. ## AI credit questions and answers #### Are AI credits consumed by every user? AI credits are consumed by actions taken in the Workspace. If multiple users run AI features, their combined usage contributes to the Workspace's total. #### Can we see AI credit usage by feature or by user? Pigment may provide more detailed visibility over time (for example, by feature). Availability depends on your plan and the current rollout of telemetry. #### Do AI credits cover only generative AI? AI credits are intended to cover multiple AI categories, including both agent-like experiences and predictive capabilities (such as forecasting). #### How can we avoid unexpected consumption? A few best practices: - Keep AI requests focused (smaller prompts / narrower scope) - Use AI iteratively: start small, then refine - Restrict access to AI features to the right roles if needed - Monitor consumption regularly in **Plan & Usage** #### The Modeler Agent was free — does it now consume credits? The Modeler Agent was available on a **free trial from March 9th to June 9th, 2026**. During that period, it did **not** consume any AI credits. **After June 9th, 2026, the Modeler Agent counts toward your AI credit consumption** like any other Pigment AI feature. Sessions draw from your Workspace's shared credit pool, with consumption varying based on the complexity of the task. If you notice an increase in credit consumption after this date, it may reflect Modeler Agent usage that was previously free. You can monitor your usage in **Plan & Usage**, and contact your Pigment team if you have questions. #### Our usage looks too low or too high — what should we do? If your credit usage appears inconsistent with your expectations, reach out to your Pigment team so we can help validate what's being tracked for your Workspace.
