This article explains how to connect Paylocity with Pigment to retrieve your data into a Pigment Block.

## Preliminary steps on Paylocity’s side

Before starting the configuration in Pigment, it is required to request API Access from Paylocity, following [this documentation](https://paylocity.egain.cloud/system/templates/selfservice/pctycss/help/customer/locale/en-US/portal/308600000001020/content-version/PCTY-59754/PCTY-991490/Request-API-Access). If you have already done it and have a Client ID and a Client Secret, you can skip to the next section: Setting up the Paylocity Connector in Pigment.

For Step 2 of the request process you will need to fill a [PDF](https://7523197.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/7523197/KB%20Images/Paylocity%20Web%20Services_Access%20Request.pdf) and send it to Paylocity at [service@paylocity.com](mailto:service@paylocity.com). Here are the Pigment-related info you should add to get the necessary credentials and permissions:

- **Vendor/Third-Party Contact Information** (see below)
- **Request Type** (New Access for Company IDs listed above → PRODUCTION)
- **Open API Access** (Employee → Get Employee → Unrestricted)

### Vendor Contact info

**Vendor/Third-Party Name**: Pigment

**Vendor/Third-Party Contact Name**: *enter your Solution Architect’s name*

Click on **Setup**to finish!

> [!WARNING]
> **⚠️****Important**
>
> The client secret from Paylocity **expires every 365 days**. At the time of writing, Paylocity sends an email 10 days and then 5 days before expiration, along with a code that you can use to generate a new client secret. Check Paylocity’s documentation on how to [obtain a new client secret](https://developer.paylocity.com/integrations/reference/add-client-secret).
>
> Once you generated a new client secret, you can seamlessly edit this field in Pigment following [this documentation](/v1/docs/edit-pigment-integration-connections).

## Load Paylocity data into Pigment

Once the Paylocity Connection is configured, navigate to an Application where the connection is available.

From there click “Import Data” for the object you want to import data into.

For example, if you were importing into a Transaction List, you would open up the list, then select **Import and Download**and then**Import data.**

Click on the **Integration** tab and select the previously configured Paylocity Connection from the dropdown.

> [!NOTE]
> ℹ️ **Note**
>
> This step might take a while, up to 10 minutes, as the connector needs to retrieve employee information one by one. You will see a progress indicator with the number of employees retrieved next to the button as shown below.

If you do not see the Paylocity connection you have configured, make sure the current application is listed under the authorized applications for this connection. To fix this, go back to the setting’s Integrations page, and check that the Application is on the *Application Access* list.
