# Create Your First Application

We’re excited to have you on board and to help you bring your data to life! To begin working in Pigment, you can either access an existing Application within your Workspace or create a brand-new one tailored to your needs.

However in this article, we start you off by explaining how to create a new Application. This is the first step in organizing, analyzing, and visualizing your data. Let’s get started!

## Create Your First Pigment Application

1. Log into Pigment. For more information, see [Sign in to your Pigment Workspace](/v1/docs/pigment-workspace-signin).
2. Click **+ New Application**.
3. Name your Application. Give it a clear name that reflects its purpose. This makes it easier for you, and others, to understand and find.
4. (*Optional)*Add a description. This can help others understand its context and intended use.

You're all set! Your first Pigment Application is now ready. The next step is to create Blocks to build out your Pigment Application.

For more information, see [Work with Pigment Blocks in Block Explorer](/v1/docs/pigment-workspace-signin).

## Edit Application settings

Once an Application is created, you can edit its name, description, or icon color to suit your preferences or organizational needs.

You can use custom icon colors to:

- Visually differentiate Applications across Test & Deploy environments. For more information on Test & Deploy, see [Introduction to Test & Deploy](/v1/docs/introduction-test-deploy).
- Group cloned Applications by retaining icon colors during duplication and restore.
- Represent specific use cases or teams using color-coded visual cues.
- You can update Application settings from either the Workspace homepage or within the Application.

### From the Workspace

1. In the **Workspace**, go to the **Application**.
2. Select the **three-dot menu** to the right of the **Application name**.
3. Select **Edit Application details**.
4. Edit the **icon color**, **name,** or **description** in the panel.
5. Select **Save changes**.

### From within an Application

1. Go to **More options** in the sidebar, then select **All settings**.
2. Go to **General**, then edit the **icon color**, **name**, or **description**.
3. Select **Save changes**.
