Block settings allow you to make structural changes and adjust different configuration options for each Block type. This article discusses the different options for Metrics.
To access Block settings:
Select the Block from the Block Explorer sidebar.
Select the settings (cog) icon in the top right corner (see image below).
You can also access Block settings directly from the Block Explorer, by selecting the three-dot symbol that appears when you hover over a Block, and then selecting Settings.

General
These are the different settings that can be found under the General tab in Blocks.
Details
The details section that allows you to make adjustments to the Name of the Metric, the Folder it is located in, and the Metric Description. The description of the Metric is seen in the Block explorer section of the Application.
Display name
You have the option to set a Display name for the Block. This is a more user-friendly label that replaces the Name everywhere in the platform, except where uniqueness is essential (in Test & Deploy contexts and in formulas). You can hover over a name to show both the Name and the Display name.
You can specify a Display name in English and/or French. The version that appears for Members depends on their language selection.
AI data access
Turn this toggle off to exclude this Metric’s data from Pigment AI. For more information, see Pigment AI.
Default settings
Define a default aggregator for the time or non-time Dimensions in your Metric.
Default aggregators are applied in new Views whether the Dimensions are displayed as Pages, or whether they’re hidden. Any default aggregators already applied to existing Views remain unchanged when you duplicate or draft those Views. You can change the default Metric aggregators at any time from the Block Settings, but the new aggregator only affects Views created from that point onward.
Below you can see an example of a Metric named FTE (Full time employee) with two Dimensions, Country and Month. The default aggregator for the time Dimension, Month, is set to Last Non-blank, and the default aggregator the non-time Dimension, Country, is Avg.
Each time a new View is created and the Dimension is added in Pages or is hidden, the custom aggregator will be set to Last Non-blank for the Time Dimension and to Avg for non-time Dimensions.

Duplicate
To duplicate a Metric:
Go to the required Metric in the Block section in the sidebar.
Hover over the Metric section and select the three-dots symbol.
Select Duplicate.
Enter a new name for the duplicated Metric, and select which options you require.
Select Duplicate again.
Data input
Automatically saves inputs
The Automatically saves inputs toggle allows you to turn off and on the Autosave functionality. This setting defines whether Members’ inputs or edits are put into a draft mode until the Save button is hit or whether they are instantly saved in the Metric.
ℹ️ Note
The Autosave setting for a Table will always override the settings of the Metrics within a Table. This means if Autosave is turned on for the Table the setting applies to all Metrics in the Table.
Allow overriding formula results with an input
This option allows manual inputs or imports to be made on a Metric that has a formula. Once activated, users with the appropriate access rights and permissions can input a value over formula-driven results.
If a user double-selects a cell and inputs data, this value is shown in the cell. If that input is deleted, the formula result returns. If deactivated, any user input values made in the Metric are lost and the formula result returns. You can turn on visual hints to identify which cells have been overridden. These cells appear with a blue bar next to them. For more information, see Cell Status Indicators.
Inputs and imports populate data across all Scenarios
This setting makes all inputs populate across all Scenarios. This means that when a value is input in one Scenario, all Scenarios show the same input. It applies to both imports and inputs and can be used with overrides activated.
ℹ️ Note
Once activated, import configurations are set to all Scenarios, and override settings apply to all Scenarios.
This setting impacts Read-only Scenarios by making their input and import data align with the Default Scenario. This means any previous inputs and imports are removed and the Default Scenario’s inputs and imports populate the Read-only Scenario. Any further inputs or imports also populate the Read-only Scenario. Read-only Scenarios are no longer considered Read-only for this Metric and all imports and inputs populate into that Scenario.
This setting also impacts any saved import configurations related to Scenarios. All saved import configurations are changed to All Scenarios. All further imports are populated into every Scenario and any previously imported data is changed to be in alignment with what was in the Default Scenario.
Copy Scenario inputs
You can copy inputs from one Scenario to another within a single Metric. For more information, see Copy inputs between Scenarios.

Library
Share this Block with other Applications
The Share this Block with other Applications toggle enables this Block to be shared or referenced in other Applications. After this toggle is activated, it must also be activated in the Library of the Applications you wish to reference it in.
After a Block is shared, a formula can reference it using the following naming convention:
'APPLICATION_NAME'::'BLOCK_NAME'
Block usage
Block usage shows you all the instances where the Block’s data is used or referenced in Blocks, Scenarios and Boards.
The Block type can be identified by its color, Blue for Dimension lists, Green for Transactions list, Red for Tables, and Purple for Metrics.
Access Rights
The Access Rights section outlines the Access rights configurations that are on the Metric. Use the Scenario switcher to see Access Rights by Scenario.
Access per Member
The Access per Member section shows access by Member down to the individual item. In the top left, you can switch between Read and Write Access to view the different types of access. You can learn more about View detailed access per Member in Access rights Inheritance.
⚠️ Important
Members must have the Define Application security permission to access the View detailed access per Member.
Block configuration
There are two settings in this section, Data visibility management, and Access rights rules. Data visibility management only applies to Read access rules. Lists can be made Public or Based on rules. The Public setting will override all Access rights rules related to Read access and allow every user in your Pigment workspace to read the data.
The Access Rights Rule section lists any Access rights rules that have been applied to the Block. Selecting the Rule opens the Metric used to create that Rule and selecting the cog symbol opens the Roles, permissions, & access page.
Inheriting access rights from
This section shows all the Blocks that are being referenced via a formula that contains Access Rights settings. If you are using the User roles rule, you see all referenced Blocks, because the default User roles contain an Application-wide access rights setting.
When a Block is mentioned in this section, it does not mean there is necessarily a difference in the Access Rights. If one Metric is referenced from another Metric, even if they have the same access rights, you see that Metric listed.
Import configurations
The Saved import configurations section shows any saved Imports into the Metric. The name and description can be seen here. This is also where the Configurations ID needed for API calls is saved and can be copied.
Delete
This section can be used to delete the Metric.
