This article is an overview of different approaches to connect SAP with Pigment.

Pigment SAP S/4HANA Cloud connector

If you are using SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud version, you can use the Pigment native connector to load data exposed through SAP ODATA v2 APIs and seamlessly schedule data synchronization.

CSV export

You can configure scheduled CSV exports from SAP and store the outputs either on an SFTP server or in a file storage service in the cloud. This is usually the easiest setup to get started, but might not be the most flexible (see “ETL and iPaaS” below for more advanced solutions).

Import from SFTP server

Once the CSV export is configured on the SAP side and is stored on your SFTP server, you can import directly from Pigment using the native connector.

Import from a cloud file storage service

Once the CSV export is configured on the SAP side and is stored on your cloud storage, you can import directly from Pigment using a native connector.

ETL and iPaaS

Below is a non-exhaustive list of third-party solutions that can be implemented to export SAP data and import it into Pigment.

Workato (recommended)

With Workato, there is a pre-built connector directly within the platform which supports both SAP (with HANA or OData) and Pigment. This means that you can use Workato’s features to build complex data flows including transformations:

MuleSoft

Fivetran

Similar to MuleSoft, Fivetran offers several SAP connectors to export data from the ERP to popular data lake or data warehouse services. For a list of these SAP connectors, check out the Fivetran documentation here.

Once the export is configured, to import the data you can use one of Pigment’s native connectors for file storage services (see the list above) as well as the following data lake and data warehouse solutions:
