Work with Tables to Summarize Information

Prev Next

Tables provide a structured view of Metrics for easier analysis and comparison. You need a minimum of one Metric and one Dimension to use a Table.

Analyze data with Tables

Metrics in a Table can use different Dimensions. Tables automatically handle the aggregation and allocation needed to display them together.

Tables can be used to display:

  • P&L reports. Combine multiple Metrics such as Revenue, Cost, Margin and Profit in a single View.

  • Project costs. Combine different cost Metrics, such as hardware, staffing, travel and other project expenses.

Create a new Table

You can create a Table in the Block Explorer by selecting multiple Metrics from the All Blocks screen and then selecting Create Table. For more information, see Pigment Blocks in Block Explorer.

Alternatively:

  1. In your Application, select All Blocks from the left sidebar.

  2. Select + New Block and then Table.

  1. Select the checkboxes by the Metrics to display. Tables work best if you use Metrics with several Dimensions in common.

ℹ️ Note

It is not possible to use Calendar Properties to display Metrics using different time periods, such as Month and Year. For example, the below two Metrics could not be displayed in a Table by using Month and Month.Year:

  • Revenue by Month

  • Opex by Year

Add and remove Metrics from an existing Table

To manage Metrics in an existing Table:

  1. Open the Table from the Block Explorer.

  2. Select Pivot from the top toolbar.

  3. Scroll down to Metrics.

  4. To add a Metric, select the plus sign (+). A dialog appears showing all available Metrics for you to select.

  5. To remove a Metric, select the three dots by its name. A dialog appears with several management options.

Working with Tables

Tables offer multiple ways to explore, analyze, and share your data:

  • Switch between Views. Easily switch between Grid, Chart and Sheet Views using the display symbols in the top-left corner.

  • Customize your View. Adjust your View to focus on the data that matters most. For more information, see Work with Views in Pigment.

  • Add formulas. Create custom calculations and derive new insights from your data.

  • Export your data. Export your Table by selecting the file symbol.
