When you’re working with Calculated Items and Show Values As calculations within a Table or Metric, you can view and change the order in which the calculations take place.
Access the Calculations tab
To view the current order of your calculations, open the Calculations tab:
In your Application, select Pivot from the top toolbar.
Select the Calculations tab beside the Pivot tab.
Alternatively, you can hover your pointer over a Calculated Item or Show Values As header and select the arrow that appears. From the menu that pops up, select Define calculations priority. This opens the Calculations tab as above.
Default order of calculations
The order in which Show Values As and Calculated Items are calculated is governed by the following criteria by default:
Aggregations are calculated before any Show Values As options apart from Cumulate and Offset…. This cannot be changed.
Show Values As are performed before Calculated Items.
Calculated Items in rows are performed before Calculated Items in columns.
In the same axis, calculations for outer Dimension Calculated Items are performed before those for inner Dimension Calculated Items.
Within the same row or column, your Calculated Items are performed alphabetically.
If you make no changes in the Calculations tab, Pigment uses the default order described above.
Reorder your calculations
To reorder your current sequence of calculations, drag and drop each calculation to the required position in the list, noting the following rule:
Calculations listed last are performed first.
⚠️ Important
You cannot reorder any calculations that use either the Cumulate or Offset… options in Show Values As.
In Tables, if you have aggregations set on your Metrics, Show Values As calculations always take place after aggregations have been calculated.
After you make changes in the Calculations tab, the Reset to default priority button is displayed. If at any point you want to restore your list of calculations to default order, select Reset to default priority.
