Manage access and permissions in a Snapshot

Prev Next

Snapshots are read-only copies of Applications. However, Blocks in the Security folder remain editable, allowing you to grant or modify access for Members after a Snapshot has been created.

Before you begin

Consider these factors when managing access and permissions in a Snapshot:

  • You cannot update Member access for Snapshots created before Sept. 27, 2024.

  • Updating access in a Snapshot affects Member access only and does not alter Snapshot dependencies.

  • By default, access rights and permission Metrics are stored in the Security folder.

  • Access cannot be managed from the Roles, Permissions & Access page.

Edit access rights and permissions

Snapshots are read-only for calculations and formulas on all Blocks, but Blocks in the Security folder remain editable. This allows you to grant or modify access for new and existing Members.

To update access rights and permissions:

  1. Open a Snapshot.

  2. Go to the Security folder of any Application from the Snapshot or its dependencies.

  3. Select any Block from the Security folder.

  4. Update access rights or permissions by directly inputting data in the Security Block needed to grant or modify access for a specific Member.

⚠️ Important

Updating Security Blocks affects access only. Changes made in the Security folder do not update calculations, formulas, or dependent Blocks outside the Security folder.

Update access in dependent Applications

If a Snapshot depends on Blocks from other Applications, those dependencies are listed in the Dependent Applications section. You can manage access to the Snapshot and its dependencies through the Security folder in the dependent Applications.

ℹ️ Note

The dependent Application Block Explorer contains only the Blocks required by the Snapshot, including Security Blocks. Boards are not available in dependent Applications.

To update access in a dependent Application:

  1. Open the primary Snapshot.

  2. From the Applications drop-down menu, select Dependent Applications.

  3. Open a dependent Application.

  4. Go to Blocks and select the Security folder.

  5. Update the relevant Security Blocks for the required Members.
